I got a job at Home Depot as a lot associate and worked there for one year. I got offered 9.25 an hour as a lot associated with no experience in home improvement, it is what kind of bugs me. When I was hired at The Home Depot you are first hired as a temp. Then after 3 months of working there as a temp, I will become a regular and be eligible to look into other positions within the store. I was a lot associate for the first 3 months of my hire and it was exhausting and felt downgraded. Then after 3 months of working there, I was bumped up into a regular and became a freight team associate working overnight for 40 hours, or in the day for 40 or mostly 30 hours. But I still had a very crappy pay.
The store I worked at did or said nothing demeaning about us, everybody was nice to us. As long as you put yourself out there and work hard nobody will have a problem with you. I can't promise that you won't meet people who don't like you, but that's what the job looks like. When you get a chance to move up, go to freight.
